Incipient Danger

Return to Essays & Poems index

Life was safe and simple then
There were but three dimensions
And you inhabited all three

A skinny snub nose cow
Mooving down Chiswick Mall
Under your arm on a bike

Now I dream in vivid colour
You are no longer a voice in my head
But an image in white and black

Like a cow but prettier
And you coo not moo
And I’m left feeling as if I just met you
